Mathare North church of Christ, Evangelism updates 13th to 19th May 2013. The days quote: “Take time with God to rethink your life. Clear-up the uncertain. Do not burden others with your problems. Do not keep turning them over in your mind, for this is surely not the way to solve them. You release them when you consciously give them over to God and then rest in Him. Miracles happen only after you come to rest. As long as you are still in your fleshly stress, believing that you or other people can do something for you, God cannot help you. He is waiting for you to come with your problem.” Monday 13th May 2013. Word of encouragement: Led by brother Steve he talked from the book of 1Samnuel 8:4-22, and said that, we should always go for God’s choice not our own or from men, as the Israelites demanded for a king, instead of letting God be their King, God late told Samuel to let them have the king of their choice, but hesitated not in warning them of the outcome of their choice, that all won’t work well for them, he related this with our today’s life that, if we chose to go with our choice and live out God’s, then things won’t go well with us. The attendance stood to 85 and Kids to 100, grand totals 185 people. May Pease and love from God be with you, in Christ Evangelist James.
Dear friends, I greet you in Jesus name, I am very glad to report to you what God is doing here, before I go further, let’s share with the quote of the week:
“It is better not to believe than to believe the wrong thing. Search for God and you will live! Do his Words, what you hear and read in the Bible. Be obedient to his voice. Do not always say No! Obedience is better than sacrifice. When the time comes, you will not be judged by your words, but by your DEEDS. Believing without works is dead. GOD always desires to take you out of your valley of doubt and rebellion. You need to learn to live by HIS grace alone!!

He continued further and said that, what we do before our children can ruin or help their future lives, because children do copy/imitates what they see from their parents.
He stressed that, Christians should always be ready to good things only as in James 1:27, and in addition give God credit and acknowledge him in whatever we do, and that Christians should be a way from self-exaltation and pride. He summarized by saying that, we should be careful with what we do before our kids and neighbors, and every Christian should learn to a good role model to his/her children, and that we should not be like a your rich fool, who put his trust and faith in his possessions only and not in God, as on Luke 12:16, who did not know that, in a second, God may call his soul, and his possessions may be left for some-else, for our lives is too short, it varnishes a way just like a smoke. Word of encouragement, led by Brother Paul Fabian, and I as his language interpreter, he gave a story of an old priest who served the time Christianity had a lot of opposition, and when he was approached to forsake his faith in Christ, he replied that, for over 86years he had served Chris, he has seen wrong doing in him, from this story, he talked about the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, that by atoning sacrifice Christ’s death, we are now able to have eternal life, and power to face this natural life challenges, trials, temptations, and all an promising circumstances of life. He added that, we are called to join Jesus in the business of the Kingdom, not just being a normal Christian; we should be in a position to identify our call and gifts, and hence use them to edify the work of God, irrespective of the many challenges, persecutions, siting that, Jesus Christ death and resurrection is our hope and victory over all opposing powers of Satan, he supported his message with the following scriptures: John 19:26, Acts 4:19, 7:4. 1Tim 1:1, Hebrews 13:12, 1Cor 15:1, 2Cor 4:1 Rom 7:13, 18-19. Word of encouragement: Led by Brother Tony Mauldin, I did language interpretation for him, he gracefully mounted the pulpit, and stated that God is working in Mathare at a greater heights, and it has been evident even in the Bible, that whenever God works wonders, is when the opposing spirits arises, like in the days of the Apostle in the book of Acts 5:38-39, where Paul’s Teacher named Gamaliel, warned those who were opposing the Gospel preached by Peter and other Apostles, saying that, if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail, but if it is from God, no one will be able to stop it, and correspondently those opposing it, will only find themselves fighting against God. As with Philip and the Simon the sorcerer in the book of Act 8:9:13, 5:1.
He explained further that the spirit of God is really working in Mathare church, that has led to a remarkable growth in Cal Saturday program from hundreds to over 2,300 kids in attendance per each Saturday, he gave an example that, God is mightily in this program, and many parents are directly benefiting, through sponsorships and feeding program, and their kids has the opportunity to be taught about the ways of God. Which essential element toward the child’s growth.
He encouraged the church to discern where the spirit of God works and join the force in bringing change to the community and the neighborhood, that God wants us to be fishers of men, he inspired the church by requesting each person to turn to his neighbor and say that, if God truly works in Mathare, let us join him in service, people joyfully followed the suite. To unite them as one family. This is why the religious plotted his to kill him, so he died as the scripture says to save us. As indicated in the book of Hebrews Chapter 2:14, and 1Corinthians 11: 23.
Offering session, led by me, I talked about the ten leprosy people that Jesus healed, only one remembered to come back and thanked Jesus for the healing, the amazing part of this story is that, this man was a Samaritan, who by then were not associating with Jews, Jesus then told him, “Your faith has made you well, as in the book of Luke 17:11-19: Lesson from this passage, 1. We should always remember to thank, and appreciate God for what he continues to do in our lives each day, by supporting his work through love, both spiritually and materially.
Word of encouragement: Led by Coach Tony, he preached about the importance of obeying God’s command, as in the book of Luke 5:1-11, he continued saying that, Jesus walked near the Lake of Gennesaret, he saw at the water edge two boats, and enter into the one that belongs to Simon Peter, and taught people, after finishing, he asked peter to cast their net into the water for a catch, but peter answered, Lord we’ ve worked hard all the night and caught nothing, but because of you say, I will let down the nets, he again gave out a story about a greedy rich man, who formed a fishing organization, and convinced members to elect him as their leader, he said, this man mismanaged their funds, more-over he never got down to the work of fishing, and to add he was very jealous with those who could do the job of fishing, lesson from this passage, 1. We should do what God commands us to do, not our own will, 2. We must trust God for a break through whenever things are not moving in the right direction,3. God wants us to be the light of the world, and as well fishers of men, as Peter did, he left everything and followed Jesus. It was a powerful message which touched the entire church.

He taught that the Word of God is spirit substance that can be fed on to produce spiritual growth and maturity. He explained that as the natural food we eat becomes a part of our body, so does the word of God become a part of our spirits, and it ministers faith to us as we imbibe it through hearing and meditation. He buttressed this truth from Romans 10:17; and stressed the need of worshiping in truth and in spirit, and thus the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, and teaches us to say no to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live a self-controlled, upright and godly life. He continues saying that, when this happens, then people will see Christ in us, as in Titus 2:11, and 1John 1:9. Attendance stood to 153.
The sermon ended with great shouts of joy in the Holy Ghost as the brethren were emboldened and empowered through the words they had received. Shortly after, this was immediately followed by the recognition of those who came to church for the first time as they were warmly welcomed.
